Forever Buffs program connects CU-Boulder alumni

When senior Christie Sounart graduates this spring with a journalism degree, she’s going to have a competitive edge over the thousands of other college graduates looking for jobs across the nation.

She has a strong Buff network of more than 240,000 alumni to tap into for professional networking, job or internship opportunities and relocation tips. And to help students like Sounart transition from college to careers, the CU-Boulder Alumni Association is building unprecedented new bridges between students and alumni, thanks to the launch of its new Forever Buffs program.

Engineering students help to improve quality of life in developing communities

Fourteen graduate students from the Engineering for Developing Communities program at CU-Boulder traveled abroad this past summer to gain field experience in community development.

The students partnered with nonprofit organizations, private companies and universities for 4- to 12-week practicum experiences in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Peru, Bolivia, Uganda, Nepal and China.

Education alumnus transforming lives in Cambodia

At age 34, Andrew Wolff is making previously unreachable dreams become reality for hundreds of at risk Cambodian children.

This might seem a stretch for a former businessman who began his second career as a teacher after earning his MA in English as a second language and multicultural education at CU-Boulder in 2006. However, after teaching for a year at an area charter school, Wolff felt constrained by the educational system. Always the adventurer, he bought a one-way ticket to Bangkok, Thailand, hoping to volunteer as a teacher somewhere in Southeast Asia.
