Admission
The Office of Admissions conducts information sessions, campus tours, and daylong visits to introduce prospective students and their parents to the CU-Boulder campus. Students interested in assisting with recruitment activities can call or visit the office.
Exams
College exams come in many forms—hourly exams, take-home exams, oral exams, presentations of papers, projects, open-book exams, midterms, and traditional finals. Examination “blue books” are often required for writing essays. You can buy them at the CU Book Store, the Colorado Bookstore, the Norlin Library Copy Center, or at the cash registers in the Alferd Packer Grill during finals week.
Grades
Each instructor at CU-Boulder is responsible for determining course requirements and assigning grades on the basis of those requirements. Use MyCUinfo to access your grades at the end of each semester, as well as to find comprehensive information about related topics such as credit hours, grade point average, privacy of academic records, transcripts, course repetition, attendance verification, and more.
Health Insurance
CU-Boulder encourages students to research various health plan options in order to make informed choices about health care. CU-Boulder has a mandatory policy that requires all students taking 1 or more credit hours to be covered by a health insurance plan (see page 15). Students may elect coverage under their own insurance, through an employer, or through their parents; however, you will be automatically enrolled and billed by the university for the Student Gold Health Insurance Plan unless you select the Wardenburg Campus Care Plan or waive coverage.
Orientation
New student orientation occurs each January and summer for entering first-year and transfer students. Depending on your college or school, a variety of programs and sessions are available. During orientation, students receive information about advising, registering for courses, taking advantage of campus resources, and making positive contributions to our diverse and dynamic community of CU-Boulder Buffs.
Student Affairs
The Division of Student Affairs’ primary focus is to create a positive learning environment that fosters successful educational and personal development of all students, both in and outside of the traditional classroom. Student learning and success is enhanced when the academic environment and community support students’ full development as individuals—not just as isolated intellects—and when students are seen as important partners in the learning experience. Student Information System (ISIS)
ISIS is a computerized data system that contains information on student admission, registration, financial aid, and academic records at CU-Boulder. The MyCUinfo student web portal is a component of ISIS.
Students’ Right to Know
As a student or prospective student at CU-Boulder, you have a right to certain information pertaining to financial aid programs, crime and safety, graduation rates, athletics, and other general information such as the costs associated with attending CU-Boulder.
